At Claresholm Veterinary Services, we are pleased to offer state-of-the-art veterinary surgical procedures. We believe in utilizing the highest level of medical technology, and our surgeons are experienced and highly trained. A surgical laser is used in place of a scalpel during surgery. The laser seals nerve endings as it cuts resulting in less pain after surgery. It also cauterizes smaller blood vessels resulting in less bleeding and improving the surgeon’s visible field.
Accuracy and precision are increased when the laser is used, as the surgeon is able to cut through very thin layers of tissue at a time with minimal damage to adjacent tissue. Our surgical laser can be used for many small animal surgeries including spays, neuters, lumpectomies, dewclaw removals, and more. In large animals it can be used for eye enucleations, penile wart/cancer removals, lump removals, and more.
Benefits may include:
- Reduced bleeding during surgery
- Faster healing time
- Reduced swelling and inflammation
- Reduced post-operative pain
- Decreased chance of infection
